Previously Unknown Lettered State!

Published in September of 2002 by River City Publishing.  This edition, according to sales information from the publisher, was limited to "500 copies signed and numbered by the author."  The first in the Matthew Corbett series, this slipcased edition is the only book in the series not published by Subterranean Press.

We have been unable to obtain any information on the lettered state, but assume because we have both single and doubled lettered copies that there were 52 copies done.  The book is identical to the numbered state, much like the Dark Tower and Christine lettered states of King's books, with a letter in the limitation line instead of a number.  While not unique in production, for the hardcore McCammon collector, this is a must, especially if you are trying to complete a lettered Corbett set!

Now, for those of you that are not aware, the production of this book was not good, the weight of the pages is causing the spine and endpapers to separate from the pages/board corners, as shown in the following picture.

They are all like this, but the books are new, to help protect them from further damage we went through all of them, slid them in the slipcase backwards, put them in protective bags, and laid them on their spine for storage so the weight of the pages is not causing any more damage.  We have seen this issue with other publishers, it is due to the thickness of the book and the weight of the pages, but we cannot sell them without the explanation, just not in our nature!
