Hornsea Hauntings

On Saturday 29 November, the world of spooks and other bumps in the night descends upon Hornsea for it’s here that author/editor/publisher Peter Crowther and the specialist publishing house, PS have made their home since 2004. Working with Ray Bradbury, Stephen King and a whole host of other luminaries in the world of the fantastic and the horrific, PS has produced some 500 titles picking up—amongst many other accolades—seven British Fantasy Awards, three World Fantasy Awards and a brace of Bram Stoker Awards, and regaling readers with all manner of revenants, monsters and beings from “out there.”

Reading their work to celebrate PS’s first ten years here on the Yorkshire coast are:

• Alison Littlewood, whose debut novel was chosen for the Richard and Judy Bookclub  while her third, The Unquiet House, was described by The Guardian as “a quiet, slow-build haunted house story;"
• Peter Crowther himself, whose work was described by the late Ray Bradbury as “evocative, beautiful, sad, haunting and chilling;"
• Mark Morris, described by Clive Barker as “one of the finest horror writers at work today;”
• and the one-and-only Ramsey Campbell reading his story ‘The Companion’ (which Stephen King considers “may be the best horror tale to be written in English in the last thirty years).”
