Introduction by John Pelan

Darkside Press is pleased to announce a landmark event for devotees of the best in science fiction: a new collection of stories by John Wyndham! One of the great masters of speculative fiction, John Wyndham was one of the first to leap from genre categorization to mainstream popularity. While his novels such as Day of the Triffids, The Midwich Cuckoos and Chocky have been perpetually in print for most of the past fifty years and enjoyed adaptations for radio, film, and television, much of his short fiction has not received the same attention. This book (the first in a series of John Wyndham "readers") presents an eclectic collection of stories that demonstrate the versatility of this remarkable writer. Many of the tales presented herein have previously been available only in scarce publications; one ("Blackmoil") has never been published in any form at all. An essential volume for the Wyndham collector or an excellent introduction for new readers.

Future volumes will include work by John Wyndham, Harvey Jacobs, Cleve Cartmill, and John Brunner.
