Rudy Pairis, an educated African American, is telepathic. His friend and one-time lover, deputy district attorney Allison Roche, wants him to slip into the mind of serial killer Henry Lake "Spanky" Spanning because after successfully damning Spanning to the electric chair for 29 murders, she has fallen in love with him and wants to be sure of his innocence.

Limited Edition: Signed, numbered and Slipcased, limited to 1000 copies

Lettered Edition: Death Cell Edition of Mefisto in Onyx Housed in a custom-made, individually keyed black metal "jail cell," lined in red velvet, designed by Arnie Fenner and manufactured by Gary Ringler. Limited to 40 copies of the 26 LETTERED copies (the other 14 copies are marked "A/C" and are numbered) signed by both Harlan Ellison and Frank Miller, of which this is the letter "J."  With accompanying stand and two keys. 

Signed and inscribed, as have been all copies we have seen, this one says "With affection + all Best Wishes to Lisa!" Dated 1/20/94
