Tom Monteleone loves to write short stories. His collection for the our “Little Books” should make this obvious. Here’s what he said in his Introduction:
I’ve always liked the color brown. It’s one of those “earth” colors that makes you feel warm and comfortable and autumnal. When the lovely editor of this series asked me if I wanted to be featured in the “brown book,” I was more than happy to accept. The toughest part of the job would be to come up with an alliterative, clever title, which tied together both color and concept.
And after much wordplay, it appears all I have is the alliteration. Nothing so wry as gray/alien or green/monster presented itself, and so I’m forced to go with the obvious and somewhat prosaic label of “bizarre.”
That being said, I should tell you the stories which follow span several decades and display a variety of approaches and styles. Some of them are more bizarre than others, and one of them appears here for the first time. Each one appears here for its own reason.
