Correspondence on the books of Arthur Machen, 1920-1923
by Vincent Starrett and Christopher Millard

Containing a Number of Things was published primarily for collectors of Arthur Machen, containing the correspondence between Vincent Starrett (the American writer and newspaperman) who is trying to obtain obscure Machen publications, and the bookdealer Christopher Millard (who is best-known for his appearance in The Quest for Corvo). The subject matter is the minutiae of Machen book collecting, and, as appendices, facsimiles of Eleusinia, The Thousand and One Nights and Parsifal are reprinted.

This book was first published in 1993 in an edition limited to 74 copies for advance subscribers. The printers, however, produced an overrun of 37 copies, which have now been bound up as a second issue, with a handwritten note and limitation in each copy to this effect. It is, additionally, signed by the editor.

Limited second printing: Containing a Number of Things is a sewn, hardback book, printed lithographically on heavy cream paper, with head and tailbands, and a silk ribbon marker, limited to 37 copies and sold out at the publisher.
